Greece 2

WOW

Greece is absolutely incredible!! We haven't had much access to internet as we would have thought, but there's so much to see that it would be tough to get on here even if we did! The night we arrived we stayed in Athens. It's a very exciting city with a lot going on. These two shots are of the view from the rooftop of our hotel--the night shot is of the Acropolis--it was so cool! (click on photos to enlarge!)

The morning after we arrived we headed out to Karditsa. I didn't quite grasp how large a country Greece was until we got here. Karditsa is about 4 hours North of Athens. The city is called Karditsa because in Greek that translates to "heart", and Karditsa is literally right smack in the center of Greece, so it is the "heart of Greece". It is a modern city, and while most people in Athens spoke English, Karditsa was another story. It was fun trying to communicate, and the guy who sold us our gyros and lunchtime really got a kick out of it. The wedding and the two rehersal dinners were SO much fun. I don't want to talk about it here quite yet because we haven't had a chance to upload all the pictures, and I want to show pictures when I blog about it! So that will be the next one. But needless to say, it was an awesome experience.

On the way to Karditsa we saw Leonidis's tomb. Apparently if you look long and hard enough you can still find arrowheads from the persians. What a cool souvenier that would have been!! Here he is...

The day before the wedding Tasha's (the bride) father took everyone on a tour of the Monastaries and Lake Plastira. The Monastaries were AMAZING. The two we visited were perched on top of mountains. The whole experience just took my breath away. We weren't allowed to take pictures in a lot of the inside areas but here's some shots of the outside!

Here's a shot of Lake Plastira, we had just had on of the most amazing lunches before we got to it and were all pretty sleepy, so we didn't take as many shots as I would have liked, but it was beautiful.

After the wedding we took off with Tasha's bridesmaid's Tracy and Nadine, their husbands Jimmy and Dan, and Tasha's brother Tony and his crew to the islands. We are in Santorini right now and it is the most amazing place I have ever been. I'm going to save talking about the islands until we get back and I can upload all the photos. In the meantime here is a shot of us on the balcony of our hotelroom. They have beautiful sunsets here =)
